Please can someone email me the club crest as I am still getting prices for club tops. I was looking at having a central crest on the front and Chorley AC on the back. Hoody tops seem popular & I have a local firm that can supply a very good quality red top with black hood inner, printed on two sides on 10 days delivery. Initial prices are just under £20, may be able to push for a further discount if our initial order is over 20 pieces. I can get sample for fit if we want to progress.

Perpetual motion man Phil McCullagh declined a rest weekend by taking on the 10 mile Ultrafit road race at St.Annes finishing 216th in 83:26 just outside the 80 mins hoped for. He was joined on this trip with a rare outing from Jim Munn Vet 75 who finished 348th(118:34). John Swift was 4th vet70 and Jim Munn 4th vet75 which is a staggering statistic re the increasing ages of the current running fields.

Two decided to embark on the 9 mile Noonstone English Championship Fell Race at Todmorden and it proved to be an extremely difficult day for both with Dave Kershaw recording an unusually late finish of 329th(104:36) and John Swift 420th(139:24).

John Swift, celebrating his 70th year went long on mileage and challenged the 33 mile Haworth Hobble finishing 238th in 7hrs 39:19.

Sunday 21st March is the Comic Relief Sports mile which Chorley Borough Council are organising in Astley Park(outside Hall) and have asked Chorley AC to provide some helpers on the day. They have asked for help from 8:30(for set up) and through the races starting at 11:15. If you can spare any period of time please come assist where you will find Simon Townsend or myself.

The Mid Lancs XC awards are on the 26th March(day after our own AGM)at Bamber Bridge and the following need to present themselves for medals:- Vet40s - came 2nd and have won promotion to Division 2 - Henry Minorczyk, Paul Wareing, Phil McCullagh,Dave Taylor, Mike Coppin & Barry Chester. Vet60s - came 3rd - Henry Minorczyk, Mike Coppin & Barry Chester. It is unfortunate that the U15 team who came 3rd are not being awarded as they only recorded 3 team scores instead of the required 4.

AGM MARCH 2010 The AGM will be held at St.Peter's Club, Eaves Lane, Chorley, at 7.00 for 7.30 on Thursday 25 March 2010. The presentation of awards will follow the AGM. This is the most important event of the year and all members are urged to attend. Anyone else interested in learning more about the club is cordially invited. Items for inclusion in the agenda or names of persons being put forward for positions on the committee should be sent asap to Pat Keene, Hon Secretary, 3, Caton Drive, Clayton-le Woods, Leyland, PR25 5SU. Would you please note that subscriptions for 2010-2011 are due on 1 April 2010 and someone will be at the meeting to collect from those who wish to pay on the night. Our income from subscriptions for 2009-2010 declined compared to 2008-2009 whilst costs have continued to rise. However, it has been decided that, for this year at least, subs will remain the same. The following need to report for duty as entries have been registered for the National XC at Roudhay Park, Leeds(LS8.2ER for satnavs) - 14:00 Fergus Tallon, 11:00 Adam & Ryan Sciacca, Joe Ellison, Ben Ramsay 12:25 Luke Betts 15:00 Barry Chester, Eddie Murray, Henry Minorczyk, Phil McCullagh, Paul Wareing, Dave Taylor, Ian Walker, Rick Cordwell, Dave Kershaw & unwisely Mike Coppin. There are no official car parks at Leeds so it will all be 'on street' and with the numbers involved surely chaotic. I therefore suggest we take as few vehicles as possible and co-ordinate thro' Stuart and Barry Chester.

Club Chairman John Payn was putting his race walking skills to the test in the "Ellis Trophy", a 15Km undulating race around Heapey finishing 6th overall in 1 hour 44 mins 40 secs. After his recent Chernobyl 10K Leo Stones entered the much hillier Blackburn Winter Warmer 10K finishing 156th and a better time of 51:11.

David Kershaw forsook the X-C for the more difficult Winter Hill Fell race over Rivington where he was slightly disappointed with his 124th(2hrs 17:39) and 13th vet50.

IRONMAN TRIATHLON

After being acclaimed as a great success in 2009, we are delighted to confirm that the Ironman Triathlon will be returning to Bolton this year on Sunday 1st August.

We are now on the look out for people to help with road marshalling duties and I am writing to ask if you would be kind enough to advertise on behalf of us. I realise that the event is still some time away and therefore you may not yet be in a position to confirm, but we would be delighted to hear from you if you think you might be able to join us.

As before, we will be producing full details of the marshalling duties nearer the time, plus supply tabards and any other equipment that may be needed on the day. We will also be providing goodie bags, which will include an official Ironman tee-shirt.

Between now and the big day we will keep you updated with developments and the latest news surrounding the event.
