I have received a letter from England Athletics which states,"Registration payments for competitive athletes not received by 30th June 2010 will result in- 1)Team and individual competition entries being rejected without a valid URN(Unique Registration Number). and 2)Such athletes will not qualify for the £2 discount on road race entries.
If you haven't yet paid your club subscription for 2010/2011, we will not have paid your England Athletics registration fee and the above sanctions will apply to you. If you don't know whether you have paid or not for this year, either e mail me or ring me asap.

International Race walker and club chairman of Chorley Athletic Club John Payn added to his list of impressive performances by winning the 5K British Master Race Walking vet 75 title for 2010 in 34:33.
Club mate Jim Munn competing in the same testing event at Horwich claimed silver in 36:01 making it a gold and silver performance by the pair!"

Chorley AC has three submissions that have got to the final short list of the Chorley Smile Awards the winners of which will be announced on Sat.4th July at 14:00 during the Picnic in Astley Park(Walled Garden). The finalists are Eloise Manger, John Wright and Chorley AC itself. As this is a public event anyone can attend at no cost.

Keeping to flatter terrain in the Hollins Green(5K) at Warrington were Dave Taylor 86th(19:55) and Ian Walker 141st(21:52) in the first half of the field whilst Phil McCullagh tackled the Longridge Lions(7) finishing 83rd(59:14) with Tom Hilton behind in 124th(77:17).

Les Paul went off to Saddleworth to finish 54th(43:23) and 1st vet60 with Tom Hilton choosing Bowley Hill Trail at Great Harwood which tested him to a superb finish in 43rd(79:26) but 2nd Vet60.

Four members have been testing the fell scene with Dave Kershaw being 33rd(62:06) and 2nd Vet50 in the Austwick Amble and then 31st(50:04) and 5th Vet50 in Henderson's End at Rivington. Jonathan Betts took young Danny Betts to the English Junior Champs fell race at Shutlingsloe where he finished in a very pleasing 29th(14:40) whilst dad Jonathan finished in 68th(25:28).

Three juniors attended the North of England T&F Champs at Leigh where Ryan just failed to make the final of the 800m despite having set a PB of 2:06.22. Brother Adam also just missed out on the final of the 1500(4:36.09) being not far behind Luke Betts who was 8th in the final(4:18.54).

There is only limited parking at Vernons Sports Club. Additional parking has been secured at Evans Halshaw accident repair centre. Runners should arrive at Factory Lane and then follow marshalls directions for appropriate parking locations.

The Primary League contest between Wigan, Horwich and Chorley has had two sessions with 6 different events. In the 75m Olivia Christopher was 11th, the 150m Ben Hughes 5th, Abigail Vaughton 7th and Olivia 17th, the long jump Abigail & Ben both 7th & Olivia 10th, the 600m Ben 5th, Abigail 7th with Caitlin Howcroft 10th & Olivia 13th, the high jump saw Caitlin 7th and javelin Abigail 6th. It is hoped that the small pool of Chorley contestants can be increased to match the larger numbers of the other Clubs.

The Badger run(10K) in Cuerden Park was run in hot conditions with Phil McCullagh gaining an excellent 102nd place(54:29) in front of Steven Wilde 116th(56:58). Mike Coppin initially out ran Les Paul but both settled for a joint finish in 164th(69:19) just ahead of Tom Hilton 169th(70:27) . Mike Coppin claimed 1st vet65 prize with Les and Tom being 4th & 5th vet60s.

The Astley Park Trail(4.4) attracted 5 athletes where Paul Wareing 31st(29:38) was pleased to again get under the half-hour with Simon Townsend close behind in 41st(30:47). Competitive veterans Les Paul 103rd(45:05) finished ahead of Mike Coppin 104th(48:53) and Paul Cunliffe 105th(52:05). Chorley AC were the 7th team with Les Paul as 3rd vet60.

David Taylor 57th(19:14) and Ian Walker 98th(21:02) ran the Durham Massey 5K at Altrincham and were both well in the first third of the field.

Nine Chorley AC athletes competed in the Inter-Club fell race at Harrock Hill claiming 2nd vet50 & vet60 teams.
Paul Wareing was the first home at 53rd(40:06) with Dave Kershaw just 3 behind at 56th(40:12) chased by Simon Townsend 69th(41:16) and Jonathan Betts 107th(45:03). Barry Chester as 5th vet60 lead home the vet60 team in 142nd(48:56) followed by Steven Wilde 161st(53:45) and Phil McCullagh 163rd(53:55) supported by Les Paul 181st(61:40) and Mike Coppin 183rd(62:15).

The standard was high at the Northern Track event at Leigh this weekend. Ryan achieved a PB in 800m. Adam and Luke took part in the 1500m on Sunday, Luke reached the final. Jonathan and Danny Betts travelled to Macclesfield for the Wild Boar Clough Fell Race on Bank Hol Mon. This was Danny's first fell race and it couldn't of been tougher. He finished exhausted and elated. Jonathan was just exhausted, it was more of a rock climb than a fell race!

Three intrepid Chorley AC athletes entered the masses at the Manchester Great Run with Lucy Croston securing a very good 24th place(10:26) in the mini run and Marco Sciacca taking a marvellous 3136th(46:59) place out of over 35000 followed by Tim Croston in 12316(56:57).

Updates on Terry Dickenson and Stuart Swann Terry seems cheerful and positive, according to his wife Pat, and is to have another 'stent' input to his heart under 'non-emergency' operative conditions which sounds good !
Coach Stuart has had a pacemaker fitted and amazingly is on feet after a couple of days viewing our running efforts.
Interestingly both hospitals say that the level of fitness of both Terry and Stuart is a major factor to less damage occurring and the ease of operation and recovery of both patients....obviously there is a big benefit from being a runner !!

Luke Betts and Ryan Sciacca took a trip to the Trafford arena to try their skills against the big boys in the 800m both having fantastic winning times of 1:59 and 2:08 respectively.
