Thoughts of other athletes have turned to Track & Field and have been partaking in the Sale Indoor series at Sports City, Manchester where Graeme Ballard has been honing himself for his World Championship race in New Zealand running consistently through December and doing 8:03 for his final 60m sprint. Rick Cordwell also ran for the first time indoors finding it very different from outdoors but was pleased with his benchmarks of 60m(7.85) and 200m(25.42).

Michael Chalfont took himself out for the Joe Salt Fell race coming 15th(27:10) and 4th Vet40.

Further to IOM discussion - Bolton Harriers athlete trying to register in front of me: "I live less than a mile from the venue!" - "Yes, but where were you born?" - "Horwich." - "Horwich isn't in Lancashire." - "It was in 1962 when I was born!!" - "Sorry, but you're not eligible." . . . . . How mad is that?

Lancs XC start times are shown on the event page of the fixtures list. Late entries need to enter at least 30 mins before the start of the race. Have a good race :-)

Lancashire AA have wished all Chorley AC athletes a happy New Year and have asked that as many of us as possible contest the Lancs XC Champs this weekend(8th Jan) at Witton Park, Blackburn. They wish the fixture to have the same buzz and atmosphere as any Mls or RR event and not be regarded as an elitist event...I am going to compete so thats the elitist bit gone straightaway !! Incidentally Henry Minorczyk and Barry Chester are the reigning 1st & 2nd V60 champs with Eddie Murray having won the Vet65s so it would be nice to support these old codgers in their defences.

The National XC Champs at Alton Towers on 19th Feb '11 had to have Club entries in again by this week which made contacting people very difficult. As Alton Towers is more or less on home territory and the course is supposed to be very good(probably means very testing !) Barry and I assessed the likely entrants to be :-Fergus Tallon, Luke Betts, Mike Coppin, Barry Chester, Paul Wareing, Phil McCullagh, Henry Minorczyk, Eddie Murray, David Taylor, Ian Walker and Simon Townsend whom we have now entered I am afraid at the cost of £6 per head.

The Northern AA XC Champs at Sunderland on 29th Jan '11. The Club entries had to be in by this week and Barry & I were only aware of two definite entries which we have put forward as Luke Betts and David Taylor. We viewed the distance as too far for the rest of us !

The Northern area XC Champs are in Sunderland on 29th Jan but entries must be in before Xmas. These entries are by Club and cannot be done individually so anybody thinking that they might do this event must inform Barry Chester or myself by Saturday(at the Blackburn XC).

Chorley AC has thanked, by way of flowers, Julie(& Paul) for arranging the excellent Xmas 'do'. Such an ability to organise has led us to ask about her plans for a Summer barbeque ??!!

Thankyou to all the junior girls and boys who have worked hard the past few months on Monday evenings at Holy Cross taking part in a number of athletic activities.
Hopefully we will arrange some fun games early in the New Year as due to the school being closed Monday 20th Dec; our plan for games and prizes that evening will have to be put on hold.
Hope you all have a great christmas with your families, and get some of the presents you want. Jan

i know what you mean with the sat nav.
i went to do ampleforth a few years ago and ended up down a country lane, i then came to a railway crossing but it was only for people on foot, about 45 mins out of my way but i enjoyed the race a tough 7 miles with the nasty climb in the first mile and half. i stayed the night before so had plenty time to get there

Hi all,
As I've already mentioned to a few club members, I've started a Blog. Simon's kindly provided a link from the CAC Website under the 'Social' heading on the 'Links' page. I'm too excited about it to read the help pages or tutorials so am doing everything by trial and error but it seems to be producing reasonable results. Have a look see what you think. I welcome comments - constructive or humorous! It's liable to change on a regular basis as I have plenty of material to add yet and ideas keep occurring. -- Tom Hilton
