England Athletics have asked if anybody wishes to submit a nomination for an 'unsung hero' award for 2010. The categories are--Club of the year, coach, young volunteer, official, services to disability athletics, & general services to athletics. The submission will first go regional & then national. Should anyone feel the desire to do an entry(closes 19/8/11) then I have the papers.

Frank & Kath Crook leave for Coventry on 14th April and we thought it right to take them out for a send off meal. However things have gone too fast and we have missed this so we are intending to send collected monies to them for celebrations on us down there. Frank was a founder member of CAC in 1980 but had been doing some coaching in the 1970's. So if anybody wishes to contribute to his collection please give to me.

Just give me a ring if you need any more information.
Well done to everyone for what you have achieved so far - keep up the good work !

Two Chorley AC athletes were selected to compete for Lancashire at the English schools national cross country held in Wollaton park, Nottingham on Saturday on what was a beautiful day for all runners representing their counties around England.
Joe Ellison running in the intermediate boys race did his club and county proud finishing 194th and 3rd for Lancashire, a terrific race for his first county run!
Luke Betts ran in the senior boys (being at the younger end of the age group) and he arguably ran one of his best races of the season finishing 63rd out of a field of over 300 and 2nd for Lancashire on a flat course which played to his strengths

Just to let you know that Ben Hughes also ran in the Chorley Primary Schools cross country on March 1st. He finished in a very good 22nd position - not bad for a Year 4 boy!
