Hi to all the juniors and their parents; just to let you all know there will be training sessions on the following Saturday mornings throughout the school holidays:
23rd July, 6th 13th, 20th and 27th August, 3rd and 10th Sept.
Meeting place 10am top barn Rivington.
Routes will be varied to help with building speed, strength and endurance.
I hope you will be able to make some of the dates.Sessions will be 1-2hrs.

Great North Run (18/9/11). St Johns Ambulance have offered the Club some places for any athletes who have failed to get into the race - the conditions are a £25 deposit & £350 minimum sponsorship. Anyone requiring these details please see me.

The Inter-Club fell race of 'Warton Crag' on Sat.9th July is at Archbishop Hutton School, Back Lane, Warton, Carnforth it is at 14:00 and costs £4.

Message to remind all athletes attending the Primary League final meeting (medal), on Friday 8th July that the competition starts at 6pm, so it will be great if you can get to Robin Park for 5.30pm.
Also next Monday 11th July is the final week for the Mini Olympics; there will be a presentation for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each school year for all the events covered; so keep up the great work you are all doing and be proud of yourselves for working so hard.
The presentation will take place at Holy Cross after training on the 18th July.
The 18th July will be the last Monday training until after the school summer holidays.
Anyone who does not already attend Tuesday and Thursday training with me and would like to come along, please give me a ring; everyone is welcome.

Ian Gouldthorpe competed the National Vets Champs in sunny Birmingham recording two PBs in the 100m(12:43) placing 5th and in the long jump(5.67m) finishing 3rd as well as coming 3rd(11.23m) in the triple jump.

Chorley AC athletes were invited to the North of England track Champs at Sport City, Manchester where both working very hard to secure a place in the final. Michael Churm just failed to make the 100m final coming 7th(13:09) and Luke Betts making the 800m final but also coming 7th(1:59).

Just a reminder to all that Chorley Harriers have invited all CAC members and their families to their barbacue & disco on Sat. night 2nd July at Chorley Cricket Club at 19:00. In view of the current merger talks between the Clubs it would be diplomatic for as many of us as possible to attend.

Now in its 28th year the course is run over canal bank, field and road.

It would appear that those saying that the Harriers members had 'insider' knowledge of the proposals were correct, for the merger team referred their paper back to each Club's Committee as agreed, but the Harriers Committee meeting being held at the Cricket Club had Harrier members turn up, listen to the Committee discussion and read the the papers. I suppose any Club athlete may attend a Committee meeting(there is nothing in the Constitution to say otherwise) although there would be a bit of a crush in my house if everybody came(but you would be welcome!). However to equalise the situation I am going to copy the merger teams proposals todate and they will be available for members to read prior to the final proposals being released onto each web site.

Sunny and warm in Birmingham for day 2 of the Masters T&F. Lots of strapping on a dodgy ankle and lots of plasticine on my spikes due to 4 fouls out of 6 jumps. Ended with 11.23m into a 1.1 headwind for another bronze medal.

Day 1 of the National Vets T&F champs at the half finished Alexander Stadium brought 5th place overall (1st in the B final) with a new PB of 12.43. Long jump later in the afternoon brought another PB of 5.67 and a surprising 3rd place :)

Lancashire AA award a trophy each year(Les Rogerson) for the last 12 months achievements(2010/11) and have asked if we have anybody at Chorley AC thought worthy to be nominated? If so please forward the data for submission to me by 24/8/11 for the AGM on 21/9/11. Last years winner was Holly Bleasdale.

With regard to a possible ‘merger’ between our club and Chorley Harriers, discussions have started and are making positive progress. In the near future, it is proposed to communicate a draft merger proposal and constitution for discussion, via publishing on both web sites (printed copies will also be circulated) at the same time. It is important to note that no decisions have or will be made, without the agreement of the majority of senior club members.
Anyone who has any queries or concerns about the process is encouraged to contact one of the committee members at any time.
