Excerpt from my next post - re Harrock Hill:- At the farm were another gathering of harriers waiting for the other group to join them for the run-in - which produced the surreal results sheet showing 'M Ogle' and 31 guide runners from Chorley Harriers with the same finishing time and providing a fitting and poignant farewell for a well respected fellow athlete and friend.

There is a medal meeting Sunday 4th Sept at Robin Park Wigan; this is the Arnold Seddon Memorial. You will need to register by 10.30am.
Also there will be no training at the track on the following 3 Thursdays 22nd and 29th Sept and 6th October.

Two Chorley AC competitors at the Northern Vets T&F meeting held at a warm Leigh on Wednesday night. John Wright easily won both the 100 and 200 in times of 11.9 and 25.5. I ran 12.6 for 2nd in the 100, threw 21.53 for a PB in the discus, cleared 1.45 and narrowly failed 1.50 when trying the HJ for the 1st time in 20+ years (and somehow managing to get cramp in both calves), then had a strong finish in the 400 to win in 61.2.
Anyone over 35 who wants to try a bit more track and field should try one of these meetings - plenty of opportunity to try new events and a wide range of abilities on show !!

The Mid-Lancs XC Presentations at Bamber Bridge. Current practice is to book known bands for entertainment post prize giving, however in the last two years all have cleared off leaving litterally an audience of only two. Clearly this is not working and is embarassing, so each Club has been asked what they would prefer :- No entertainment, Entertainment prior to the awards, Entertainment in breaks between junior/senior/team awards, disco instead, other form eg magician etc, just background music, start presentation much ealier than 20:00.
The organisers believe that the awards ceremony should be a bit more than just turn up, collect prize, and away again so they are asking for advice. All suggestions to me and I will pass them on.

No Primary training on Monday night until September 2011 (new school year). But training sessions are held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Please contact Jan or any of the other coaches for more information.

adam and ryan sciacca ran for lancashire on saturday at the inter counties held at leigh.both achieved
personal bests so did did wellfor the county. ryan ran the 800 and adam the 3k.adam has only ran this distance once this year and has had breathing problems this year so was very apprehensive but having been asked ran anyway and did not let onyone down.ryan ran inside 2mins for the first time so my thanks to both for a very good performance

John Wright paid a visit to Sacramento in the USA where the World Masters Championships happened to be occurring and came home with two silver medals representing the British V50s in the 100m & 400m relays which he can now add to his other gold, silver & bronze world medals.

Phil McCullagh did the Radcliffe(5K) race in 59th(24:39), just shaded by Steven Wilde in 51st(23:03).

On the roads Paul Clyne(60th), Dave Kershaw(64th), Phil McCullagh(184th) & Tom Hilton(203rd) gained Chorley AC 12th team place in the expectantly large final Horwich Jubilee(5) race of the season in which Chorley AC came 5th team in the series with the same team of Dave Kershaw 18th(2nd V55), Paul Clyne 26th(6th V40), Phil McCullagh 37th(5th V50) & Tom Hilton 40th(2nd V60).
