Junior News
Hi Everyone,
We hope information is becoming clearer with the new single email address, and website. We are aware that more work is needed though and would welcome any feedback to help with improvements.
Along with the most recent newsletter, here's some more detailed information regarding the junior section:
Training fees: After a lot of deliberation, and many years of the training fee remaining the same, it has been decided that the fees for athletics sessions will increase to £2 from 1st April.
There continues to be many developments in the junior section, with more investment required to ensure the club offers the best support to developing juniors.
Whilst we believe this is still a bargain for quality sports coaching, we understand this will affect some families. Any family wishing to discuss support from the committee on financial grounds, can do so by applying in the first instance to the club Chair, Daryl Peter, daryl.peter@btinternet.com.
Fees must be paid at the start of each session. No fee, no training.
Membership fees 14/15: There are still some outstanding membership fees due for the year ending March 2015. Tash Fellows, the membership secretary will be contacting individuals to ensure current fees are paid. The new year fees will be due from April onwards, (deadline mid June), so your attention to this will be welcomed. The membership fee is a requirement of belonging to the club and taking part in training sessions.
Easter holidays (30th March - 10th April):
Swimming - there will be no swim sessions 2nd and 9th April
Cycling - there will be no cycling sessions 31st March and 7th April
Athletics - there will be no sessions at Holy Cross or Parklands. Other sessions will be advised by your coaches.
It is likely that sessions will move outside after Easter, so please ensure suitable clothing is worn & check the message board for updates and confirmation.
Spaces available at cycle & swim training:We currently have space for more juniors to take part in cycle and/or swim training. You don't have to want to compete in triathlons to attend these, as both involve elements of endurance work and will support training for other sports. No experience necessary.
After Easter both sessions will include elements of run training as well. These places are being offered to current members in the first instance.
Cycling - Tuesdays, 6-7pm, Buckshaw Primary school. Contact Vicky & Andy Lavin, vicky@amlavin.gotadsl.co.uk. Some club bikes are available to borrow. All being well and weather dependant sessions will be held outdoors after Easter.
Swimming - Thursdays, 6-7pm, Brinscall pool. Contact Jane Bowles, janebowles@talktalk.net .Swimmers must be able to swim 2 lengths without aids.
Forthcoming events:
There are many events coming up, and we encourage all juniors to take part in one competitive event in each discipline across the year.
Extra cycling sessions, open to all - Using the cycle track at UCLAN Sports Arena has been fun for many of our juniors. The next session is taking place on Sunday 22nd March 1-2pm. You need your own bike and helmet. Seniors are allowed as well, so parents can join in too. £2 per person payable on the day to Amanda Chadwick. Please confirm your attendance to Amanda at valleybrass@gmail.com, or 07778653475

There is another session booked for Sunday 14th June (7pm - 8pm) and if there is any junior age 9+ who would like a place, please email vicky@amlavin.gotadsl.co.uk.
