Meeting #1 Sunday 9th November 2014
Congratulations to all 12 athletes who took part in Sunday's first meet of the Blackpool Sportshall meeting. Everyone had a great time, and there were some exceptional performances given by all. The girls U11 team of Chloe Molyneux, Lucy Goldthorp, Isobel Farron, Olivia & Megan Leigh and Alayana Ahmed currently stand in 4th place overall - placed higher than many other bigger squads. The highlights include 2 first place finishes for Olivia, 1 for Megan, and points scores from Isobel. The girls also ran the fastest U11 girls relay of the day!
The boys U11 team of Harry Potts, Jack Hughes, Mathew Brown and Jamie Rimmer sit in 5th place overall, with Jack Hughes bringing in an excellent 2nd place in the Javelin, and Harry 3rd in the chest push.
Caitlin McCarrick (2nd / 3rd and 4th places) and Martin Rimmer were the only representatives for the girls and boys U13 categories, both putting in excellent solo runs, which earned the club points and leaves both their categories in 5th place overall, a superb effort considering.
Thanks to all the parents and coaches support on the day, although it was tiring, it was most enjoyable.
A message to all the other Juniors that didn't / couldn't make Sunday - There are two more meetings left in this series. There is still time to fill in the forms, hand in at registration or post to enter them. This is the perfect opportunity to put into practice all of the skills you are learning in your training sessions, in a fun and supportive environment.
The club, athletes and coaches need your support in events like these, we are getting some exceptional results with the juniors that attend, think how much better those would be if we could take the number of athletes some of our rival clubs are achieving!
