In what was a somewhat hectic weekend, the club was involved in firstly the Mid Lancs. Cross Country at Blackpool. Emily Warren was the star of the "show" as she powered to 2nd overall in the U11's at Lawson's Ground clocking 8 mins 21 secs ably supported by Emma Jeffers in 9th place. Daniel Lilley produced a superb run to finish 7th in the U11 boys with team mate Sam Prince finishing 41st in 9:48.
The senior ladies were well represented by Christine Sweatman finishing 9th vet 55 with Shelley Parkinson having an excellent run to finish first LV55 for the club and 7th overall in that category. The veteran 40 men have a chance to gain promotion into a higher division and currently stand 2nd overall this down to exceptional running by Robert Walsh (14th Vet 40), Dave Biddulph (22nd Vet 40),Phil Iddon (29th Vet 40),Warren Crook (19th Vet 50),Bill Beckett(34th Vet 40),Paul Bass (38th Vet 40) and Stephen Baker (34th Vet 50).
Not to be outdone the men's Vet 50's top the division with sterling runs throughout the series and could gain automatic promotion.
7th March 2014 Rylands Park, Lancaster
A superb run and first place by Olivia Leigh in the Under 11 girls guaranteed a great start to the club's participation in the last Mid Lancs Cross Country of the season at Lancaster. Olivia clocked a super time of 7 mins 4 secs to claim first place but was made to work hard by her team mate Emily Warren who secured 5th position in 7:26. In the U11 boys Daniel Lilley led the team home finishing 5th (6:50) and ably supported by Owen Kellett (25), Joe Bowles (27) and Sam Prince (40). The club only had one senior lady participate and Christine Sweatman finish 8th FV55 clocking 33:55. Rob Walsh,MV40, led the senior men home in a superb time of 33 mins 51 sec with Phil Iddon (36:39), MV55 Warren Crook (37:32),Darren Bowles (38:13), Jonathan Burgess (39:06), Phil McCullagh (48:00) and final team counter Adrian Smith,MV60, finishing just under the hour mark (59:07). Team manager Stan Jewell was highly delighted by all the performances especially the youngsters, he said "The town of Chorley as well as the club has seen some special performances over the season, none more so than at Lancaster. Well done to all concerned."

Almost perfect running conditions greeted our first XC race of 2014/15 at Leigh where the U11 boys ran really well with superb runs from Daniel Lilley(7th) & Jack Hughes(9th) with back-up from Owen Kellett(48th), Harrison Lyons(49th) and Sam Prince(62nd) taking them into 5th team place just ahead of the U11 girls who also ran well to 6th team with Olivia Leigh(4th, the best Chorley finish of the day) supported by Lauren Prince(27th),Megan Wilson(37th), Isabelle Farron(39th), Blythe Cordwell(48th), Amy Heaton(55th), Erin Boardman(67th), Alysha Roberts(68th), Amber Boardman(85th) & Layla Alton(96th). The U13 boys also finished a team in 8th place with a group effort from Oliver Goldthorp(28th), Jacob Hughes(34th), Harry Wilson(40th) & Martin Rimmer(45th). The U13 girls would have been well placed if they had had another to support good runs from Caitlin McCarrick(11th) & Charlotte Lavin(38th). Poor Jack Wilson had no company in the U15s yet placed well in 26th place. Chorley's ladies of Lynne Clough(7th & 1st L45), Jane Bowles(74th), Lisa Johnston(76th), Karen Hancock(99th) & Christine Sweatman(111th) finished as 13th team but were the 8th vet team. Adam Critchley(45th), Keith Johnston(56th), Chris Lane(69th), Phil Iddon(73rd), Ainsley Murphy(91st), Bill Beckett(127th), Jonathan Burgess(131st), Mick Hancock(134th), Andrew Clough(139th), Paul Bass(140th) & Chris Charnley(160th) took Chorley to 12th team place with support from Dave Kershaw(175th), Steve Baker(177th), Paul Jackson(196th), Paul Wareing(200th) & Simon Townsend(224th). The final group saw a good return from serious illness for Barry Chester(239th), a first time run for Anthony Lloyd(242nd), Tom Hilton(244th), Adrian Smith(245th) & Eddie Murray(246th & 3rd V70). The vets however made 4th team Chorley's highest position of the day.

Chorley took their turn in hosting a XC meeting in Astley Park which turned out to be a good success, despite doubtful weather, with 780 participants(407 being under 20). Chorley U11 teams were both 4th with the boys having Daniel Lilly(6th), Joe Bowles(20th) & Oliver Platt(26th) backed up by Dennis Kay, Owen Kellett, Oliver & Thomas Murphy and Sam Prince. The girls had Olivia Leigh(5th), the highest Chorley finish of the day from a huge field, Emma Jeffers(14th), Blythe Cordwell(29th) with tremendous support from Emily Warren, Lauren Prince, Isabelle Farron, May Goldthorp, Amy Heaton, Erin Boardman, Sadie Kirk, Megan Leigh, Megan Whalley, Layla Alton and Ellie Hancock. The U13 boys and girls only had 2 members each with Oliver Goldthorp(19th), Jacob Hughes(21st), Caitlin McCarrick also 19th and Angel Coakley(47th). Kian Davis(11th) was the lone Chorley U15. A really big ladies field had 7 Chorley competitors gaining 10th team(9th vets team) with Laura Murphy(18th - 3rd L35), Emma Perrin(34th), Nicki Rushton(6th L45), Lisa Johnston(76th), Karen Hancock(84th), Christine Sweatman(3rd L55) & Shelley Parkinson(4th L55). Chorley's men could only match the ladies 10th team position with an outstanding run from Julian Goudge(17th & 3rd V40), Keith Johnston(59th), Chris Burgess(76th), Ainsley Murphy(95th), Phil Iddon(98th) and Chris Charnley(101st) who was doing his second race of the day. Good mid-race packing came from Joe Allman, Jonathan Burgess, Bill Beckett, Paul Wareing, Paul Bass, Dave Kershaw & Mike Hancock. Martin Quinn bounced around in front of Michael Hendry and Steve Baker with backing from Carl Prince, Phil McCullagh and Barry Chester. The vets also finished as 10th team.

30 Chorley runners tackled the icy, muddy course at Marl Pits to complete the Red Rose Cross Country races.
U11 Olivia Leigh continued her brilliant form with another 2nd place in the race, and 2nd overall for the series. Emma Jeffers romped home in 6th place, followed by Emily Warren, May Goldthorpe, Lauren Prince and Isobelle Farron in the 20s. Megan Whalley was 32nd, followed by Blythe Cordwell, Amy Heaton, Alysha Roberts, Erin Boardman and Layla Alton. The team was 3rd for the race and series. Jack Hughes led home the U11 boys in 9th, followed by Oliver Platt and Sam Prince.
U13 boys Oliver Goldthorpe and Martin Rimmer finished 18th and 31st, and Caitlin McCarrick and Charlotte finished 14th and 34th for the girls. Kian Davis was the only U15 boy, but finished in an excellent 11th
For the ladies Lynne Clough finished 3rd, but 2nd Vet in both the race and the series. Sheely Parkinson had a good run to finish 81st. First man back for Chorley was Jonathan Burgess in 68, with Bill Beckett and Paul Waring 99 and 100 respectively. Phil Iddon was disappointed after injuring himself on the way to the start, but still finished in 102nd place. The came Steve Baker, sprinter Rick Cordwell just in front of Michael Hendry, Simon Townsend and Paul Jackson.
