National News
An uncharacteristic nice day greeted about 400 runners for the 26th Roddlesworth Roller and Daffodil Doddle races.

A very close finish saw Chris Singleton(Trawden) beat Rob James(unattached) in 33:33, with Chorley's Jullian Goudge in 3rd. First lady was V55 Lesley Fisher(Burnden) in 42:17, followed by Joan Jackson(Northern Vets) and junior Josie Hull(Chorley). Blackburn Harriers and Chorley took the male and female team prizes respectively.

Nathan Townsend(Horwich), who started running the Doddle when he was 9, was first to complete the new 2.2km trail course in 7:06, just beating George Nightingale. Hyndburn's William Moynihan finished strongly to take 3rd in 7:50. Georgina Smith(Ribble) was first girl back in 8:03,chased by Bolton athletes Rachel Bailey and Katie Oakley. First team was Howrich, followed by Bolton United Harriers and Chorley Athletic and Triathlon.

54 Chorley athletes, young and old took on the challenge of the 26th Roddlesworth Roller and Daffodil Doddle races organised by the club for Abbey Village Primary School.
Nearly 200 runners completed the 9.2km Roddlesworth Roller, with Vet40 Jullian Goudge and U21 Josie Hull being 1st back for Chorley and 3rd male and female back. Laura Murphy and Jane Bowles and Josie secured 1st Ladies Team. Ladies also running well included Vicky Burton, Janet Barrow, Lisa Johnson, Joanne Heron, Alison Fowler and Jan Atkins. Not far behind Jullian, were team mates Robert Walsh, Ainsley Murphy and Phil Iddon, followed by Allan Blackwell, Neil Forkin, David Miller, Richard Farron, Jonathan Higson, Stephen Baker, Stephen Cummins, Phil McCullagh, Les Paul and Tom Hilton. Chorleys' male teams finished 3rd, 8th, 11th and 16th.
Ben Hughes finished 4th of the 200 runners in the Doddle. Jack Wilson and Daniel Lilley were not far behind, just finishing in from of first Chorley girl Caitlin McCarrick. These leaders were then followed by some strong runs from Joe Bowles, Olivia Leigh, Jacob Hughes, Charlotte Lavin, Henry Wilson, Martin Rimmer, Amber Boardman, Jordan Monaghan, Robyn Lee, Lauren Prince, Finlay Hughes, Owen Kellett, Isabelle Farron, Blythe Cordwell, Alice Singleton, Oliver Murphy, Alice Goudge, Amelia Bowles, Lara Goudge, Emily Warren, Megan Whalley, Erin Boardman, Tom Murphy, Jamie Rimmer, Eloise Beattie, Freya Burton and Layla Allton.

IMPORTANT : Please do not panic if your entry cheque has not been processed yet, as I generally process them once the event has taken place. If you did not provide a post paid envelope for numbers or your booked online, then your numbers will be available for pick up on the morning of the race. Please allow lots of time, as registration is usually very busy.

The Roddlesworth Roller is a friendly 9km trail race on good paths/roads around lakes and through woods. It is run by athletes of all ages and abilities, from 16+ to 80+ and national athletes to absolute beginners. The Daffodil Doddle is a new 2.2km road/trail race for Junior and Fun runners, using part of the Roddlesworth Roller course (no public roads). It is the 26th running of the races this year, so please come along an celebrate with a run.
