Chorley Ten take on Gin Pit 5

A fine autumn morning greeted 10 Chorley runners as they lined up for the final instalment of the 2013 Central Lancs Grand Prix at Gin Pit, near Tyldesley.

The race was won comfortably by Matthew Clark (Swinton) in a time of 27:05.

Martin Quinn was first back for Chorley in 49th place (33:05), supported by Paul Wareing (63, 33:58) and Ainsley Murphy (place and time TBC).

Warren Crook (94, 37:06) led a small knot of Chorley runners in middle of the field, followed by a strong Laura Murphy (100 and 7th lady, 37:44) just easing past Michael Hendry (101,37:57) and then Simon Townsend (120, 39:50).

Next home were veteran Chorley athletes Christine Sweatman (138, 41:46), Phil McCullagh (144, 42:19) and finally Mike Coppin anchoring the team (189, 61:30).

The Gin Pit 5 race completes the 2013 Grand Prix which included Chorley's own trail race, the Mike Ogle memorial race (4.4). The series placings are yet to be confirmed, but Paul Wareing provided particularly strong representation for the Chorley team, contesting nine of the ten events during the season.
