Sports Hall 2013/14
Now the track & field season has come to a close, it's time for the winter athletics to start. I've volunteered to adminster the SportsHall part of the junior competition activity.SportsHall is all about fun - running, jumping & throwing within a sportshall & generally within a team. Every individual will be encouraged to do their best and work at getting better over the season. Events include short runs, speed bounce, soft javelin and standing long jump. All of these skills form the basis of all sports and are part of the FUNdamental actvities children develop at Primary school and further develop Yr7 & 8. The emphasis is on fun & taking part.
Saturday 5th October - DASH team challenge, Hazel Grove High School, SK7 5JX. 1pm start, doors open 12pm
We can enter teams of 4, and individuals not in teams at a cost of £4 per person. Ideally we'd like everyone to be part of the club, but if you have a friend who'd like to see what athletics is all about, this may be a way of encourgaging them along! Minimum age 7 on the day please. We do have some spaces in cars offered, so if transport is a problem, or you want to car share, please let me know.
We have a couple of full teams, and part teams already, but anyone can take part. Please let me have your entries (names & age group at 31/8/14) by Tuesday 24th. Please let me have £4 per person preferably at training to Nick Hughes.

U11, U13, U15
This is a 3 event team series & is part of the national SportsHall competition on these dates, minimum age 8:
10th November - Stanley Park, Blackpool
12th January - Stanley Park, Blackpool
9th February - Stanley Park, Blackpool
There will also be a Regional event for each age group, which some of our Chorley athletes were chosen for last year & we hope that more will be selected this year.
Last year our U11 boys were 2nd overall, and we learnt that ALL points are important, including relays. So this year, we want as many athletes as possible to take part & let's see how Chorley get on this season!
We don't need to pre-register for this, but it worked well last year registering all athletes at the same time (the club did pay for junior entries in this competition. I'm checking to see if they'll do the same this year). This event is ONLY for CHORLEY registered athletes, so if you have friends, they must be club members to take part in these events.
You don't have to do all 3, but the more you do, the more team points we get & the more individual points you achieve over the season. I'll send more details out to those interested nearer the date.
The other winter competition for juniors is cross country, which you need to register for direct with Stan, the secretary. Form attached. This weeks Red Rose event is now a register on the day event, so get there early so you can walk the course as well!
We encourage children of all ages and abilities to get involved. If you're new to this, you may want to remember a cushion to sit on & lots of snacks as they can be quite lengthy spectator days! Some people managed to get homework done, but if your youngster needs quiet, this won't the place to do that!
Any queries, please ask. I'll do my best to help you.
