Thank you for your patience as we get all the admin systems in place with the new club. Attendance at Monday night training sessions have doubled in number these last few weeks, so registering, and speaking to new people has taken up time. Sorry if this has been frustrating.

This is just another quick update so that we try and keep you as informed as we can about what's happening within the club and what's available for your child to get involved with.

1. Due to the increase in numbers we can NO LONGER accept any new Primary age children at the club. We will review this over the months and will advise when this changes. We will be holding a waiting list, so if you do have friends that never got around to coming along, let us have their details and as spaces become available we'll contact them. Similarly, if your child decides this is not for them, please do let us know so that we can let someone else have the place.

2. The coaches are working on the groupings of the children to ensure they're all in the best group for their age and ability. As you know all children develop at different rates, so it's important they enjoy coming on a Monday night, or to any of the CHAT sessions. There may be some jiggling over the next few weeks, as we work towards the new structures being in place for September. If you have any concerns or questions, please ask us, or the coach your child has been working with the last few weeks.

3. Membership for Juniors is 5 and is payable on the 5th week of attendance at the club. As places are now limited, please ensure this is paid. Membership helps towards the cost of training & supporting the coaches & equipment, and the general running of the club. If you've been attending for longer than 5 weeks but have yet to pay, please do bring this with you next week, along with a completed membership form from the club website, if you haven't yet completed a new one.

4. We're getting together events lists for Primary and Secondary age children. If you do an internet search for events in the North west you'll be surprised just how many there are! The CHAT website has most listed, and generally there is someone gonig to the event from the club. Generally your child needs to be a member of the club to compete in events, and will need a club vest, available at 17. If you require a vest, let us know the size & we'll get them for a Monday night for you.

5. Complimentary vests - there was a little confusion tonight about this. Sorry. Any previous club member (from CAC or Harriers) who had paid their membership by 1st May and competed last year is entitled to a new club vest for free.

6. Primary age 2012 Team Marathon: 20th July at the track at Horwich from 6pm till 8.30pm. This will be a fun night with a happy memory for all involved. Any Primary age child who's involved with the club can take part, with the idea being the whole team completes a marathon within the time. There'll be some hotdogs & drinks available for the spectators (and maybe the children as well!), for a nominal charge. Jan is organising this, so if you need further details please contact her on 07425159380.

7. Other training sessions during the week you can attend: Tuesday night 6.30-7.30, running. Various venues, with a timed run every 1st Tuesday around Worthington Lakest to measure progress. Jan leads the younger age, and Stuart the older ones. It's an adult session as well, so you can join in too! This session is free. Participants are coached to their ability, so don't worry if you can't run just yet - after a few weeks you'll be surprised what you can achieve!

Thursday night 6-7 - running. Meet at Astley Hall car park for endurance coaching to develop strength and fitness. This is free to attend. Or, you can go to Horwich Track 7-8 for sprinting, long distance and long jump work. 1 for juniors, 2 for adults. Again the groups are split according to age, ability and events.

8. Volunteering. As you know, the club is run by volunteers. With the numbers of young people looking for support and development it would help them if we had more volunteers. There are many roles within a club this size, some of which are administrative, others involve coaching and officiating at events. If you're even half interested in helping out in some way, please let us know and we'll pass you to the relevant person within the club. For every event we attend, we have to supply officials to help with time keeping, measuring etc, so this may be just the thing you're looking for, and will help the club to continue within the UKA affiliation criteira.

Hope this is all making sense! The SportsHall season starts in September, with inter club competitions for 8-15 year olds. As soon as we have the details we'll pass them on. Hopefully there's something for everyone within the club. If you do have any comments, please do let us know. We hope we're heading in the right direction, but we don't know unless you tell us!
