We have teamed up with Horwich to provide a track and field team in the four Northern Athletic events during Summer. The format is similar to the juniors YDL competition and is just as much fun. It is a great opportunity to maybe try things you have never done before e.g. sprints, relays, hammer, steeplechase, hurdles, etc. If you are interested in coming to any of the events to compete or help, please contact Rick or Simon. | 2016-10-09 Mike Coppin | Is there anyone willing to take-on the organisation of Chorley's Great Hill fell race in June? Last years race was cancelled due to a lack of pre-entries and me being in hospital. Simon Townsend and I have organised this race for the last several races, and Terry Dickenson many years before that, but we are also involved in all the other Club events and wish to downscale our efforts due to family pressures ; we would of course assist any new organiser. The completion of the FRA paperwork (which I have) is best done before the 31st October so that the race features in the 2017 FRA calendar. It is my belief that with so many fell runners in the Club hosting an event is the best way to give something back to the fell running community rather than being solely users. If no-one volunteers to take this on then this race will be dropped, and once out of the system, will be very hard to resurrect. |
